Obituary for Fay Louise Walker (Marshall)

Fay Louise Walker (Marshall)
Fay Louise Marshall Walker, of Pleasant Gap, died April 10, 2017.

She was born in Bellefonte on July 7, 1929, the daughter of the late James Gilbert and Blanche Hoover Marshall. On June 9, 1949, she married the late Rodney Everett Walker in The Bellefonte Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. The services were performed by the Rev. John Jones and the late Rev. Franklin Greenley, uncle of the bride.

She is survived by one son, Rodney E. Walker, II and his wife, Judy of Pleasant Gap; one sister, Miriam Carolyn Marshall Walker and her husband, Cameron of Burt, NY.

Fay graduated from the Bellefonte High School in 1947; she then attended the American Institute of Banking.

She was a member of the Bellefonte Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Down through the years she served in the following: Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary, Sunday School Treasurer, Church Financial Secretary, General Church Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Governing Board Member, Deaconess, and Auditor; President of Alliance Woman, Budget Committee and Treasurer of the Lewistown Area Alliance Woman.

Fay helped to departmentalize the Sunday School and taught in every department. She organized and directed Daily Vacation Bible School for many years. She gathered memorabilia and wrote the church history.

Fay loved entertaining friends in her home, cooking and baking. She baked many wedding and anniversary cakes for family and friends.

She retired in 1987 as Teller from Mid-State Bank, Pleasant Gap, PA. She worked part time for the Pennsylvania State University as a floating Secretary for approximately eight years. She also worked for Whiterock Quarries as a secretary for fourteen years.

Mrs. Walker loved her work but most of all she loved serving her church and doing the work she felt God called her to do.

Friends will be received from 10-11AM, Monday, April 17, 2017 at Living Hope Alliance Church, 321 E. Howard St., Bellefonte, PA. The funeral will follow at 11 AM in the church with the Reverend John T. Pavlica officiating. A graveside committal service will be held 2:00 PM at Meyers Cemetery, Buffalo Run Road, Bellefonte.
